Fall Skincare

Ahhhh Fall is here!

I couldn’t be happier! I know many of you love those summer nights, but I am thrilled for cooler temps! I love snuggling by a fire, wearing cozy sweaters, eating all the soups! It’s truly a magical time for me.

Aside from the obvious shifts in our clothes and foods, we also need to shift over our skincare. As the weather changes from hot, humid air to cool, dry air- your skin has different needs. In those warmer temps you can get away with a lightweight moisturizer and maybe even less skincare in general. I know that for myself, (normal/dry skin babe here!) I often need a little more love this time of year.

So here are some things you may want to look at when it comes to your skincare for these cooler months…

  1. Swap out your moisturizer.

You may need a heavier moisturizer (maybe even just at night) during this time. As the air cools and we are in more “artificial heat,” our skin needs more moisture. So that lightweight product you’ve been using may not do the trick anymore! One way to alleviate that is by swapping it for a more heavy duty hydration. Currently I’m loving, Ursa Major Golden Hour Recovery Cream. It’s super hydrating, but not too heavy. I love the smell! It’s a winner in my book.

  2. Add in gentle exfoliation.

I don’t exfoliate very often, BUT by the time winter rolls around I find myself reaching for gentle exfoliators from time to time to refresh my skin. While your skin may feel more dehydrated this time of year, it tends to look it too. One way to combat that is with a great chemical exfoliant. I’m loving Skinfix Resurface+ AHA/BHA Niacinamide Exfoliating Pads. These pads have no artificial fragrance or ingredients I’d hate to have on my face! They are formulated with 3 acids to gently exfoliate skin as well as buzzword ingredient Niacinamide which helps to smooth skin’s texture and regulate sebum (oil production).

  3. Add in a Face Oil.

You may find that you need something like an oil to help lock in moisture. I LOVE face oils. I use them year round, but if you find that it’s too much for those sticky summer months, this may be your time! I’m obsessed with Loli Beauty Plum Elixir. This has been a staple of mine for years and they are a Zero Waste company that uses sustainable, organic ingredients! Other oils I love include Jojoba and Rosehip.

Take into account how your skin is feeling! Everyone has different needs and may need to add one thing, or swap out a couple- while others may be perfectly content with what they’re doing now :) It’s important to really listen to what your skin is telling you so you can provide it with what it needs :)
